The House By The Sea

Matthew Eyett-Wright has drawn and painted the world around him since he was old enough to hold a pencil. He cannot look at a landscape, building or a persons’ face without scrutinising what meets his eye in terms of shape, colour, atmosphere and light.

Matthew makes it his personal quest to interpret the world or reflect the soul of a sitter in his portraits rather than merely reproduce the subject “photographically”. “To use paint as a medium, skillfully, economically and with eloquence is a daily challenge”.

Matthew rarely exhibits as his paintings sell privately almost as fast as they are finished. Many are in private collections on both sides of the Atlantic.
