Constance Spry, the famous florist of the 50’s was responsible for the flowers at the wedding and coronation of the young Queen Elizabeth II. She may not be so fashionable today, nor would she have had the overwhelming choice of flowers we now enjoy. However the ethos reflected in her quote (above) is no less relevant today. At The House By The Sea, our hand-tied bouquets and arrangements are often called fresh and contemporary with our unusual combinations of flower varieties and colour schemes but they will never be ‘modern’ in the tortured or contrived sense. We aim for a style which has never gone out of fashion. Flowers should seem as if just picked from the garden arranged in a spontaneous manner and always joyfully pretty. We place great emphasis on presentation and our wrappings are reminiscent of the effortless chic of smart continental florists.
